As one of the news anchors reminded us this morning we are a month into Spring. I have noticed an increase of pins on Pinterest on Spring Cleaning. We have been doing some of that here today, focusing on my youngest's, Josh, room. First trying to find his floor under the blankets, pillows, and toys. Then sifting through whatever he has tossed under the bed and in the closets from the last time he "cleaned" his room. My husband got the joy of assisting Josh this time, while Josh complained how unfair it was he had to pick up. I cleaned the bathroom and told him I thought I had the unfair job. One female in a house full of males in which the majority can't hit the water in the toilet, seemed pretty unfair to me. After discovering probably two loads of laundry, if not three between clothes - bath towels - and blankets, and getting rid of anything broken or unusable my husband and Josh finally have that bedroom back in order.
Rhett, my middle son, on the other hand was not trilled with the idea of having a cleaning day. "Mom my room is clean, and I'm not helping Josh!" Rhett got handed other chores like sweeping. I got the complaint that the dirt on the floor was not his mess, in which I responded "you live here."
As I said I took on the bathroom in addition to the kitchen. Two of the most used rooms in the house. Yesterday, I did my favorite thing when the weather cooperates, opened all the windows and aired out the house. It always amazes me when you can finally be outside how stuffy inside feels until you open the windows. It's too cool here today for that and we are hoping for rain.
Cleaning and airing out the stuffy indoors becomes tradition for most of us. While Spring here has been anywhere between the 40's and the 70's, hey it's South Dakota, like with most things,
you never know what to expect.
