I know I haven't bogged in a while, but life interrupted. My oldest came home for the weekend with his girlfriend, whom we never met before.
Since Wednesday, my family has been trying to unplug from our personal devices a little more each day. We started off unplugging at 8pm, and since Wednesday had everyone scattered we repeated the exercise Thursday. It's not as easy as you'd think. I work until 5 and by the time I get home, make supper, and do a little work on the computer my time is up and getting my writing in isn't easy. Thursday was rough for my husband and I. My boys, they played outside until it was time for showers. My husband didn't like me putting his phone away in our room and after posting for my fitness challenge I run over the 8 o'clock deadline to unplug.
Friday, I let my oldest know and to him to let his girlfriend know that we were unplugging at 8. We had prom in town so we went up to see my niece and her date drive up to the school and get announced at grand march. By the time we got home it was time to unplug, when Andrew and his girlfriend got here they had already shut off their devices. They were actually very understanding and supportive. They made the evening easier by playing card and board games with Rhett and Josh, my younger two.
Saturday was full of running so devices were limited. Other than driving time, we were in and out of stores so there wasn't a lot of time to be on anything. Rhett and Josh went in together on a four month Xbox live card so they could play games with their friends who don't live in town. Since, we didn't have devices until almost eight when we got home, I let things slid.
Today, my husband and boys are off for haircuts, a movie, and supper in a town about 30 miles away. The closest large town we have, and I get the afternoon to myself. So I'll get some work done sitting outside is the sunshine, plan vacation bible school, and enjoy some peace and quiet. Unplugging will be an on going work in progress, so we'll keep working at it. While our recent nice weather helps, I am open to suggestions. Enjoy your Sunday.
