Technology friend or foe?

Technology is great isn't it? Well it sure is when it is working the way we want. In my life technology has not been my friend. We kick off this technology war with my youngest losing his iPod, twice. The first time it was found by a family member and we got it back. The second time, it has been no where to be found. So, he has taken over my iPad. Which means by the time I get home from work he has it at 13% and says "here mom you can have it." If he didn't need the internet for homework I'd hid it. He has worked doing chores and other things around the house to earn a used iPod we found online, so I have my technology back and can do the things I need to do.

My second battle was instigated by my service provider. I received a call from them and asked if I wanted to upgrade my modem. Sure, who doesn't want faster internet? All I have to do is install the new modem, follow the simple setup instructions, and I'd be all set. Well, not quite. We got everything plugged in and I can't get online to activate the modem. My wireless router can see my modem but it can get to the internet to activate the modem. We ended up having to call the provider and told that we need to call and they have activate it. What should have been a 15 minute job turned into over an hour.

My latest battle is the software updates at work that affect the billing. Printing everything alone has increased from 1-11/2 hours now takes 3. Yet, this new process is supposed to be easier and faster. Well, I'm reserving judgment until all the bugs are worked out.

Technology can be helpful, and our lives today seem to revolve around it in some aspect or another. While we love it when it's running smoothly, it is frustrating and  aggravating when it's not.
