Action and Reaction

I've been thinking alot lately about action and reaction. Hey, its everywhere and not just my kids science books, the news, situations, relationships.

The news shows us an explosive situation where tensions and tempers are high and we pick a side and demand answers and justice. Yet, when roles are reversed in the story and reported calmly it changes our reaction. We still take sides and form opinions but we aren't angry that something isn't being done. Why should it be justified one way yet not the other. I believe in these situations how the media, who should be non biased, fuels these situations.

The same goes in our everyday reactions to people and situations we incounter everyday. A bad day can stem from one bad situation or negitive person and snowball from there. How we react to something or someone upsetting will catapult and spread to everything and everyone you incounter afterwards.

We have a friend who said she's tired of being told only you can decide to be happy. While its hard, really really hard, its also very true. We can let outside forces in the form of people and situations influence our reactions, moods, and behavior. Or we can find ways to react in ways that are effective, positive, and that make a change. Part of the is having a rough plan in place regarding negative situations. The other part of reacting diffinatly is practice.

If your just mindlessly reacting you change nothing. If you react in a manner that influences change you may end up solving a bigger problem.
