The summer season is winding down and the last camping weekend of the year is almost upon us. Here in South Dakota the weather looks to be in the 80's with a chance of storms.
To tell you the truth I find myself looking forward to fall. Not that I am ready for cooler weather or that nasty white stuff the follows. With the state fair kicking off this week, school started, and fall sports underway we will be doing a lot of running. My two younger boys who are still at home are both involved in fall sports, football and cross-country, and their excitement for the competition really has me looking forward to it. I usually face kid sports with a lack of enthusiasm. Not that I don't support sports I just have a hard time getting into it. This year though my kids are so excited about what their doing its contagious.
You see for our high school and junior high football teams we have had to co-op with a neighboring town. Now this isn't such a big deal since our seventh grader has been playing with most of these kids the last two years. Yet he is excited about all the "new" that has come with it. The new mascot, colors, uniforms, all of it. Its good to see.
My youngest is playing his first year this year couple town over and asks daily about his first game.
Here's where the extra running comes in. With my youngest having practice two nights a week, we are packing suppers, eating and changing in the car, and juggling home somewhere in between.
This year I'm pumped and ready for the fun and excitement. I'm also praying for a fun and safe season.
If you have student athletes how do you juggle the running and responsibilities of school work?
