I am so thankful that I am able to make changes easier my youngest.
We started the school excited and on a great foot, but a month into school we started getting emails and phone calls from my youngests teacher and principal. After having problems throughout my oldest school career I know this feeling of dread when the school contacts me. We looked into bullying, the classroom environment, and some other different reason a kid who does well in school now had dropping grades and major behavioral problems seemingly overnight.
Now I have been diagnosed with celiacs about five years ago now and his behavioral issue plus some digestive issues had us pushing for some testing to be down. While a blood test isn't the most accurate way to tell if someone has celiacs, my husband and I figured it was a good place to start. The blood panel is in the works, just waiting on the results. So, with the support of our doctor we are going a head and switching his diet to gluten free. I've spent the day mimicking the school lunch menu to make the switch easier for him. And would you know it Thursday they are having chili with a veggie, fruit, and cinnamon roll.
I so thankful that not only can I make the switch easier for him but I have everything already so he doesn't have to miss out on the treats and favorites that he would really miss otherwise.
