As a parent, I encourage my kids to reach not just for the stars but for their dreams. We all heard it ourselves when we were kids, you can be and do anything you want. No limits. I also try to teach my boys that to reach those dreams they have to put in the work. Natural talent and brains will only take you so far.
Somewhere along they way, probably junior high and high school, those dreams begin to take on limitations. We limit ourselves to our own truths about ourselves. That truth is often tainted by the opinion of others. I keep telling my boys that if they truly believe something is possible, that's half the battle. After and tough track meet my then seventh grader said "mom you were right, I kept telling myself I could place and I did."
"See things as you would have them be instead of as they are" ~Robert Collier. You can make things happen, if you first believe they can happen. Don't put limits on yourself, you can reach any dream. The best way to encourage to your kids is leading by example.
