Hitting the Fall Season Running

The schools here started in August and we hit the ground running. Cross country started us off with the first meet the week after school started. Our eighth grader, Rhett, kicked off the season with a top ten finish and ending the season dropping two minutes off his time from last years finish. I couldn't be prouder of him. He battled weather, illness, and conflicting schedules with football. His dedication continues as he practices with a teammate even though his season is technically over.

In addition to one cross country meet a week, our fifth grader, Josh, and Rhett both play football in their age groups. Weeks have been busy with Josh having football practice two nights a week  and games on Saturdays. While they didn't have the season they were hoping for the fifth and sixth grade team came a long way, learning the sport of football and how to work together.

Rhett's last game is tomorrow and they are hopeful for an undefeated season. The junior high football team has had a phenomenal season winning each game so far by at least 20 points. These boys have been playing football together for the last three years and have come to depend upon each other and know where each will be on the field. They have forged friendships between kids that are from different towns. For the boys also running cross country for their respective schools, they wish each other luck and cheer each other on.

We have watch these kids grow, learn, and improve with every year. The pride I have for their sportsmanship,  loyalty to their teams, respect for the coaches and referees, and the dedication to improving their abilities I cannot fully express.
